For some of the youngest children at Myittar Yaung Chi, the beginning of June marked an exciting milestone: their first day at school. While a few may have looked nervous at first, this is an important step that the orphanage has been carefully preparing them for by welcoming children at an early age and supporting their readiness for education.

At the same time, another group of children is taking a very different step — leaving school and entering adulthood. The tenth-grade students have recently received their final exam results. Out of 12 students, four passed the challenging national exams, matching the countrywide average. Although none achieved the high scores required for a Stiftung Life scholarship to attend university, their futures remain bright.

The team in Yangon is actively helping each graduate find a strong path forward. Four boys have already started working at Yangon International Airport, where they may greet travelers serving coffee or souvenirs. Two boys and one girl are currently waiting for their exam confirmations to begin bakery training, while another girl is preparing to train as an assistant nurse.

With continued support, these young adults are well positioned to build independent lives. A contribution of around 600 EUR can cover training fees and daily living expenses at the orphanage for a nine-month training period — a relatively small investment that can make a life-changing difference.

The children know they are not alone as they take their first steps into adulthood — and that support gives them confidence for the journey ahead.
