Life at Myittar Yaung Chi is not only about education and structure — it is also filled with joyful cultural traditions.

One of the most important celebrations in Myanmar is the Tazaungdaing Festival, also known as the Festival of Lights. Held in November, it marks the end of the rainy season. Across the country, pagodas are decorated with lights and festivities bring communities together.

At the orphanage, the celebration had its own special charm. After passing a playful hygiene check from “Mama Thay Thay” — ensuring that little hands were properly washed — the children were rewarded with ice cream handed out by Captain Jerzy Wilk.

The festive spirit continued into the new year. Independence Day on January 4th was celebrated with games and sports at the orphanage, bringing boys and girls together for a day of fun and togetherness.

These shared celebrations help preserve cultural identity while creating joyful memories for the children.
